Playa Ocotol, Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of my favorite places on earth.  I tend to want to visit places that I’ve never been, but Costa Rica always draws me back.  This time we are here for good reason – one of Ryan’s closest friends is getting married!  He lives in Playas del Coco, so Ryan and I find a perfect little condo in Playa Ocotol, a quiet beach just outside the town of Coco with the most incredible sunsets and snorkeling right out front.  The week was full of surf, epic sunsets, snorkeling, dancing, and celebrating with amazing friends and family who are all here for the wedding.  I didn’t take many pictures at the wedding because I was too busy having fun.

Where to Stay: Los Almendros de Ocotol or Bahia Pez Vela

What to Do: Surf, Snorkel, Sunbathe, rent a boat, hike, dive, fish, paddle board, zip line/canopy tours, visit The Monkey Farm (I preferred to Diamante Eco Adventure Park). There is some night life in Coco, but very quiet in Ocotol.

Where to Eat: Le Coq or Father Rooster

To Know:  the roads are pretty good here but still can be tricky if you don’t know your way around, and they do flood during heavy rain. The auto mercado is as good (and expensive) as any American grocery store, so renting a place with a kitchen is a strong move if you like to cook.
